This is an exceptionally bright, fragrant Langhe Nebbiolo – ‘leggiadro’ (graceful) is how Elena Penna describes it. The nose is classic Nebbiolo, with lifted aromas of rose petal, violets, red and black cherries and blood orange, as well as earthy, savoury notes. It’s complex yet approachable and ready to enjoy today. The palate combines brisk (yet perfectly integrated) acidity with just the right amount of torque from the tannins to have you reaching for the prosciutto. The finish is long and poised. Raised in large, neutral casks for a little under a year, the 2023 – the inaugural release from Penna-Currado – was bottled in autumn 2024, and has recently landed in our UK warehouse.
