2023 Côte de Brouilly ‘La Chapelle’, Château Thivin

Quite frankly one of the greatest Gamays we’ve ever tasted, with scintillating aromas of rose, violets, blood orange, summer pudding and hot rocks. On the palate, a wealth of juicy red fruit enrobes the fresh, mineral core that truly seems to channel the precipitous slopes of Mont Brouilly. Seventy-year-old vines contribute concentration as well as complexity. La Chapelle is immensely charming but it would be a crying shame to broach it at this early stage – our advice is to tuck it away for a minimum of two to three years, and enjoy Sept Vignes or Reverdon (from the neighbouring Cru of Brouilly) in the meantime.
