Arrêt-Bufatte is a quite lovely, harmonious Pouilly-Fumé from a prized parcel lying on an old Roman road where travellers would stop (arrêter) to snack (buffer). The roman cobbles are still visible as, on the surface of the vineyard, are the shards of flint so synonymous with the terroir of this much-loved appellation. The 2022 Arrêt-Bufatte reveals generous citrus aromas – in the keeping with the warm growing season – but remains lithe, fresh and grassy, with a stoney, saline finish. It’s just about everything one could want from a Loire Sauvignon.
