Farmed biodynamically, this remarkable property is located 35 miles south-east of Brussels in the Meuse Valley, whose climate (with temperatures comparable to Burgundy’s thirty years ago) and a clay-limestone soil make it happy home for Chardonnay. Sadly La Falize did not escape the spring frost that wreaked havoc across Europe in 2021, but the small amount of wine produced is yet again outstanding. Taut yet harmonious, it combines racy acidity and an impressive weight of white fruit. The François Frères oak is beautifully integrated and the finish immensely long and saline.
