2020 Vacqueyras ‘Garrigues’, Domaine Montirius

With its aromas of thyme, rosemary and tapenade, ‘Garrigues’ is instantly evocative of long summer evenings in the south of France. You can practically hear the cicadas singing! Its lovely floral lift hints at the mouthwatering freshness that’s a calling card for all Montirius’ wines, and which the Saurel’s attribute to biodynamics, as well as the absence of oak. There’s a wealth of red berry fruit on the palate and silky smooth tannins. This is categorically ready to drink now, but it has more than enough energy and concentration to be laid down for a few years, becoming more bosky and autumnal in character.
