This is incredibly inviting on the nose, with flamboyant aromas of ripe strawberries, rose petals, tea and black pepper. The palate is juicy and voluminous with fresh acidity and the granitic grip that’s a hallmark of Montmérond, a windswept plot of 60+ year-old vines with paper-thin soils. Yes, this is a real crowd pleaser, but it’s also a wine of rare complexity, with a resounding mineral character.
