2019 Côtes de Francs, Château Marsau
It’s no coincidence that Château Marsau is the ‘house wine’ for many of those responsible for the most expensive and prestigious properties in Bordeaux. It remains a bit of an insiders secret, but one taste and you’ll understand the meticulous attention to detail in this ten hectare vineyard. Anne-Laurence used a mixture of large oak foudres, barrels and amphorae in the 2019 vintage, adding complexity to the juicy core of red and purple fruit, particularly exotic in 2019. The palate is silky and lively, with a lot of salinity towards the finish, and, as is characteristic in Marsau, lifted violet notes throughout. As ever, Marsau is 100% Merlot.
