Liquid Farm Winery

About Liquid Farm Winery:

A project of then Wine Salesman, Jeff Nelson and Winemaker James Sparks, Liquid Farm began in 2009 with the production of just four barrels of Chardonnay from the Kessler-Hawk Vineyard in the heart of the Santa Rita Hills. With the intention of making a single vineyard Chardonnay, they noticed two of the barrels were much racier and brighter than the other two which had more richness like that of a Meursault. At that moment, their intentions shifted to crafting styles of Chardonnay, not necessarily single-vineyard bottlings. The White Hill Chardonnay is reminiscent of a high-acid and bright Chablis yet comes from the white diatomaceous soils of the Santa Rita Hills. The Golden Slope Chardonnay brings a bit more richness and intensity for the lovers of Meursault and the Four Chardonnay comes from four barrels that stood out from the Golden Slope and every year, Jeff and James select their four favourite barrels for this bottling. Whilst known for their stylistically high-toned Chardonnays, Liquid Farm makes small amounts of Pinot Noir from the famed Sanford & Benedict Vineyard and their Santa Barbara Pinot Noir is a very approachable wine sourced entirely from historic vineyard sites in the Santa Rita Hills.
